Midway's sale to WB approved by courts
Warner Bros. recently bid $33 million to acquire Midway, the developer/publisher best known for Mortal Kombat, and the sale has been approved by the courts. The sale is expected to close within in 10 days. What this all means is that the Mortal Kombat IP, Midway's Sports and Arcade brands, and the Chicago and Seattle studios under control of WB.
Midway has been in a lot of financial trouble in the past few years, but it would be a shame to see them go. Midway is one of the oldest video game companies in the world. In the 80s they were best known for publishing and distributing Taito and Namco games in the US.
