Fishing?

Does anyone here fish? Kev, you are right on Lake Erie where there is prime fishing?

I've recently picked it back up. I mainly have started kayak fishing since the last summer and have built a pretty sweet fishing rig. I also joined a bass club to start fishing tournaments. Just curious if anybody else has decided to do something other than gaming?

I used to fish a lot.  Either off the canoe or my family owned a few canoes and boats.  Local lake type of deal.

Anyhow, I've gotten so into fishing that my gaming has slacked off considerably. I still play here and there (love nino kuni) but it has gone by the wayside in a big way. I've even resorted to doing away with all the video game podcasts and bookmarks that I used to frequent, aside from this one which is a rarity in itself. The main reason is the cost, shit costs a lot! I only have room in my life for one expensive hobby at a time and fishing has taken the lead.

I took out all of my podcasts and bookmarks to prevent the hype machine from driving my impulsiveness. Out-of-sight out-of-mind. I find you bunch to not be a threat in that area because your my homies and homegirls ( if red troll is still around).

Is that crazy? Before owning a house, I didn't worry about it that much but responsibilities require priorities and frankly gaming is now at the bottom of the list.

I'm getting old...

I don't fish.  I don't play video games either.  I just like the podcast.

My main hobby is reading.  In the warmer months I bike a lot (road bike & trails).  In the winter months I like to Ski but don't go often enough.

I mostly got bored of it.  Don't get me wrong fishing can be a lot of fun and there's a ton of skill involved.  But what turned me off is when you're not doing well and I end up sitting there for a few hours and almost nothing happens.

I don't fish.  I like the idea of it.  Getting some fish, cleaning them, and eating them.  Has that nice survivalist thing wrapped up in it.  But I don't have the time for it. And I'm a bit of sissy when it comes to putting worms on hooks and grabbing fish and such.  Just how it is.

That said, when I was a kid, my grand parents had a cottage at a lake that we would go to all the time.  We fished with bobbers there.  I did a great deal of that.  So I think that is part of the reason I don't have too much interest in it.  I got it out of my system back then.

I do like the boating aspect though.  Getting out on the water and drifting around.  I think I'd be more into the exploration aspect of that though, rather than the fishing.  I wouldn't mind doing a canoe or kayak trip down a long river.  (Not rapids)  Something along those lines.

Kayaking is fun. I have a sit on top style that I've modded for fishing. Aside from fishing, being out on the water can be pretty peaceful and damn near zen-like. This is a great escape from the busyness of living. If you can find a nice lake with few distractions then you have it made. Rivers can be fun, but you can never be sure what is around the bend. Maybe a banjo playing kolop!

That's pretty cool.  I've never seen a kayak that decked out before.  A guy I work with is pretty avid with the kayaking.  He does geocaching.  And there are cache's in the water.  For instance, there is one near Cleveland that is attached to a shripwreck under water.  So you have to dive down to get it.  He does things like this.  

I do expect to hear that they found his body washed up on some shoreline at some point.  But at least he's living his life how he likes.

Cancer Update for 05/18/2013

  We're at the end of the line.  She's not expected to make it past the weekend at this rate.  Her decline from semi-alert but confused, to completely out of it was rapid.   She can still eat and drink but no longer has any conversation and does not really know much else about what is happening. Raspberry Pi

I bought a Raspberry Pi today.  Primarily to use it as the mining computer for my ASIC rigs.  I had a temptation to get a netbook and use that, since the interface would be more open ended running Windows and everything.  But the Raspberry Pi is "neat" and it only runs on 1.5watts to 3watts.  Which is ridiculous.  In order to get maximum ROI the wattage needs to be low.  Hopefully doesn't turn into a nightmare to get up and working.  Though there are many straight forward examples.  I'm not new…See More

Cancer Update for 05/08/2013

  So, after coming home from work on Tuesday, Mom was laying flat resting and they had installed the catheter.  While this relieved a lot of the stomach pain she was having (Most pain, unless she moved around and then got shots of back pain.) she appeared very much lethargic and tired.Since then, she's been unable to eat and drink on her own.  I have to give her one pill at a time, and feed her, but she doesn't eat much.  I believe this is because she has to concentrate to swallow, and that is…See More

Cancer Update 05/06/2013

  Well, this weekend I changed my first diaper.  Except instead of a little baby, I have a 150 pound woman who is in pain as I try to move her around.  She didn't eat almost anything the last twenty four hours.  She complains of stomach pain, however I'm almost certain this is because she is not going pee.  I don't know why she is resistant to peeing in the diaper, as I've told her time and again that she should pee in the diaper.  She wants to get up and sit on the poo poo pot.  Brian, on…See More

Cancer Update 05/02/2012
