So, after coming home from work on Tuesday, Mom was laying flat resting and they had installed the catheter. While this relieved a lot of the stomach pain she was having (Most pain, unless she moved around and then got shots of back pain.) she appeared very much lethargic and tired.
Since then, she's been unable to eat and drink on her own. I have to give her one pill at a time, and feed her, but she doesn't eat much. I believe this is because she has to concentrate to swallow, and that is difficult for her. I have to put into significant effort to give her enough liquid, because she only sips. So I'm trying to pad her liquid with some food like sorbet and oranges that contain a lot of water to keep her hydrated and her energy level up.
The nurse came yesterday to try and give her an enema, but it didn't take, she had some very solid stool. So we doubled up the stool softener and the nurse may come back today to do the enema if she hasn't pooped. (Not looking forward to the onslaught of pooping mayhem that could come blasting out of her ass.) I left that with Larry this morning, so waiting to hear from him.
I thought she might be dead when I woke up this morning. Amazingly, her eyes were slightly open and she was watching TV. This is a good sign, mentally, because when you reach the end, they don't even see the TV, they just look through it. But she was commenting on what she was seeing. Though she speaks very quietly now.
Anyone's guess, but I think we're less than two weeks out now. All depends on how this continues to progress.
